There are most likely between 14,000 and 18,000 !Xun speakers, scattered mainly in Namibia, Botswana and South Africa, with some few hundreds in Angola. !Xun can be defined as a complex language with dialects linked by a chain of mutual intelligibility.!Xun denotes the last remaining member of the former Northern Khoisan family and forms a newly proclaimed language family called Kx’a.
